1212 Cathedral Street
Baltimore, MD 21201
The First Symphony, a work that so tormented the composer, eventually alleviated the burden of composing a symphony in the wake of Beethoven?s genius. The text for Schwantner?s stirring work was compiled from the speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This special performance, with Kweisi Mfume pays tribute to Dr. King?s 80th birthday and the holiday in his honor.
